The Winjeel P-2 Facility at Westbourne Grammar School in Truganina was constructed adjacent to the newly built Early Learning Centre to establish familiarity for the young students as they graduate from one building to the next.

The single-level facility spans approximately 3500m2 and boasts an open-plan learning environment for students in years Prep to Year 2, with its three classrooms arranged around a central area where students can come together to collaborate. For ease of access between the P-2 Facility and Early Learning Centre buildings for staff, a physical connection was constructed.

The building has a complex steel structure with a mix of composite cladding materials, including recycled fiberglass cladding, ampelite and masonry blockwork. Internally, the building features architectural finishes ranging from plywood linings, timber veneer and raked ceilings. The facility is complemented by extensive landscaping which was carefully designed by Xylems Landscape Architects.

As the project was carried out within the campus grounds and due to the adjoining Early Learning Centre, the works were planned in collaboration with the school to ensure the campus could run without disruption.
