The MCC Kew Sports Club, located in the heart of Kew, is comprised of three bowling greens, six tennis courts, and clubhouse facilities for club members and the local community. The refurbishment of the dilapidated Clubhouse and external carpark was completed during the 6-month bowling off-season
Initially, a preliminary investigation of the facility was completed to highlight potential cost risks caused by working on an existing structure and a plan in order to reduce these risks was prepared. Building works involved an extension to and the refurbishment of the existing MCC Clubhouse, including the upgrade of infrastructure as required; the redevelopment of the existing carpark; and landscaping.
The external façade underwent a complete redesign and includes a mix of alucobond cladding, shiplap timber cladding, feature iron bark posts and an engineered glass canopy roof. A high-level of finishes was a priority for the MCC, therefore long lead times on certain fixtures and fittings and programming of the works was imperative to ensure a seamless flow of work onsite. The inclusion of a lift to provide access to the upstairs function centre was also of importance to the MCC; a feature that also required detailed programming in order to meet the completion date
