Widely regarded as Australia’s most prestigious and exclusive tennis club, and internationally recognised as The Spiritual Home of Australian Tennis, Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club has been a leading sporting institution since 1892. To preserve its heritage and further enhance the member experience, the club undertook a major redevelopment comprising a new multi-level carpark and an extension of the historic clubhouse.
The three-level carpark offers 130 additional parking spaces for members and guests, along with storage areas and bicycle racks positioned around the grounds.
Within the clubhouse, modern facilities were introduced across four levels while carefully respecting the club’s history. The Lower Ground Level features a near-doubled gymnasium, upgraded change rooms, a new squash court, and additional storage. On the Ground Level, the impressive ‘Stadium Room’ provides a flexible large-scale function space with high ceilings, feature lighting, and advanced audio-visual technology, catering to a wide range of events. This level also includes another squash court with spectator seating for up to 100 people overlooking the show court below. Level 1 offers exclusive member and corporate facilities, including a lounge, bar and kitchen, boardroom, and a private terrace with views across the main stadium.
For the first time in the club’s history, the extension has created seamless connections between the clubhouse and stadium, including balcony and terrace areas with sweeping views of both the stadium and the iconic grass courts.
Delivered while the club remained fully operational, with uninterrupted access for members maintained throughout, this redevelopment secures Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club’s legacy as one of the world’s most highly regarded sporting and social clubs.
