Since opening in 2023, the North Bellarine Aquatic Centre has quickly become a popular destination for recreation and relaxation, bringing the community together through its outdoor pool and open spaces. The next stage of development will build on this success, adding a new indoor facility that will serve as a year-round hub for swimming, exercise and wellbeing, welcoming families and residents from across the Bellarine Peninsula.
Delivered in partnership between the City of Greater Geelong, the Victorian Government and the Australian Government, the development responds to the community’s long-standing vision for an inclusive local aquatic centre that supports people of all ages and abilities. The expanded facility will improve access to swim education, rehabilitation and fitness programs, encouraging lifelong participation in aquatic and leisure activities.
At the heart of the facility will be a light-filled indoor aquatic hall featuring an eight-lane 50-metre pool and a warm water program pool for therapy, lessons and leisure, both with ramped entry. The new foyer and café will create a welcoming space for visitors to meet and connect, supported by upgraded change facilities, amenities and storage areas, while a spacious gym and two group fitness studios will promote active living through a variety of programs.
Additional works include expanding the car park to support growing demand and improving accessibility, making the facility safer and easier to navigate for visitors.
Thoughtfully designed to support health, connection and wellbeing, the new North Bellarine Aquatic Centre will be an inclusive, lasting asset for the Bellarine Peninsula, complementing the existing outdoor pool and creating a complete aquatic and leisure destination for all ages and abilities to stay active throughout the year.
