Established in 1903, Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School is a private Anglican day school for girls, providing education from Early Learning to Year 12. To support its focus on encouraging curiosity, authenticity, and courage in every student, the School is introducing the empowerED Learning Hub, a purpose-built facility designed to enhance hands-on, project-based learning and provide flexible spaces that respond to the demands of modern education.
The empowerED Learning Hub will be a four-storey building designed to create an immersive environment for students and staff. The ground floor will feature a vibrant Town Square and Forum Space as the central hub for collaborative activities, alongside a concierge, Maker Space, and Fabrication Lab. These areas, supported by dedicated learning and staff zones, will allow students to engage in hands-on innovation using the School’s specialised tools and equipment. Visitor amenities, storage areas, and a communications room will also be located on this level.
On Level 1, a café with an adjoining deck will provide a welcoming space for informal learning and social connection. Breakout areas will complement Environments Learning Zones and a dedicated laboratory, while an Urban Farming Terrace will enable exploration of sustainability and environmental studies. Staff hubs, offices, and amenities will ensure seamless integration of teaching and administration.
Level 2 will focus on digital, media, and communication technologies, with specialist facilities including a Media & Communications Lab, audio recording and studio spaces, an Electronics Lab, and a Digital Space. Breakout areas, a reading and writing zone, and an outdoor terrace will provide flexible spaces for study and collaboration, supported by staff offices, meeting rooms, and amenities.
The third level will house two multipurpose rooms, supported by a foyer, storage facilities, and amenities to accommodate a variety of educational activities.
Additional works include resurfacing and upgrading the existing sports courts, along with new landscaping and vehicular crossover modifications. Car parking will be reconfigured to provide a total of 17 new spaces, including one accessible space.
