Ringwood is a major urban centre in Melbourne’s outer east with its Metropolitan Activity Centre providing great access to retail, entertainment, community, cultural, commercial, government services, and public transport. As a key hub with accessibility to jobs and services, supporting infrastructure is needed to sustain the increasing number of residents, workers, and visitors in the area, and through a partnership between the Maroondah City Council and the Australian Government, a new carpark will be built in the Ringwood Activity Centre.

The location of the new multi-level carpark at 1 Bedford Road is home to the former Blood Brothers Store which holds heritage and social significance for the community, and therefore a portion of the original Blood Brothers storefront will be retained and relocated on the site to form part of the new facility.

The Ringwood Activity Centre Carpark will span 6 levels, with 1 basement level and 5 upper levels, and have 324 parking spaces including designated spaces with charging stations for electric vehicles and accessible parking spaces. The carpark will be supported by extended pathways to enhance connectivity to the nearby local streets and Ringwood train station, subsequently reducing parking congestion on the streets and train station carpark.

The traffic safety improvements at the Greenwood Avenue intersection, along with improved pedestrian and cycling connections along Station Street and Greenwood Avenue, will significantly improve traffic and pedestrian safety in the area, including for children from local schools and other local vulnerable people that navigate the roads in this area.
